Artist's Comments

i copied and greatly enlarged the cutaway drawing from a book i had called "us war machine" of the plane from "top gun". i also added a tiny portrait of tom cruise in the cockpit (well its sposed to be it was too hard to draw such a small pen portrait!) i did this back in july 2000 or so, i remember it taking a week to do. also probably cant see in this photo but no 55 on the list on the left reads "tom cruise"

I knew someone at DA would put up a Tomcat someday!

It would have taken about 3 min. to get frustrated and move on to another drawing

The pilot actually looks more like Ernest Borgnine. Cool piece of hardware, though. I'd love one for those times when I get that old impulse to fly to Sweden or someplace...

im suprised you could make the pilot out at all, i also wrote "Maverick" on his helmet just like in the movie, and "Goose" on the copilots helmet.. well it was almost impossible to draw a one centimetre pen portrait, at least for me.. thanks for your comment :) who is ernest borgnine by the way? ive heard the name but i cant place it

Borgnine was an actor in the late 40's to early 50's, I think. Was before your time and mine. I only know about him because my stepmother (back when she was alive) brought home a videotape one evening. It was an old black-&-white movie.
